Das "Electrical Engineering"-Studium umfasst die Erzeugung elektrischer Energie (Generatoren, Wind-/Photovoltaik-/Wasser-Kraftwerke), den sicheren Transport und Verteilung dieser Energie (Hochspannungstechnik, Smart Grids) sowie die Umwandlung der elektrischen Energie (Leistungselektronik und elektrische Antriebe und Motoren – E-Mobilität).
Das Studium nimmt besonders Rücksicht auf den Wandel unserer elektrischen Netze (zB Integration von Windkraft, Photovoltaik) und trägt dieser Thematik mit Smart Grids, Batteriesystemen und Wasserstoff-basierten Speichern Rechnung. Diese stellen sicher, dass der Bedarf an elektrischer Energie überall und jederzeit gedeckt ist.
Das Berufsfeld der ElektrotechnikerInnen ist international und teamorientiert. Daher wird dieser neue 6-semestrige Bachelor und der Masterstudiengang in englischer Sprache abgehalten. Ein Auslandssemester und Berufspraktika bei internationalen Partnern werden gezielt forciert.
Aufgrund der Weiterentwicklung der elektrischen Energienetze (steigender Anteil von Einspeisern aus PV und Wind) sind die Jobaussichten für ElektrotechnikerInnen ausgezeichnet.
